Last Match
The Eagles played the last match of the season today against Beyer High School. The match was significant on a couple of different levels. For the team, today was significant because the Eagles completed a perfect 12-0 season (a first in Enochs golf history). Second the score of 238 marked the fourth time this season the team came in with a total lower than 240. And lastly, the Enochs girls golf team clinched their second straight MMC title.
For some of our players today marked the end of their high school golf career. Today was the last match for our seniors. Devin, Demetria, Danielle, Jill and Kati will all be moving on next year. I personally want to thank each of you for your determination, desire and commitment. I have truly enjoyed being your coach and playing golf with you. Congratulations to each of you for your accomplishments.
The next step for the Eagles golf team is to prepare for the playoffs. The team will begin practicing for the MMC tournament and then the Division 1 Sub-Section tournament. There is still some golf to prepare for and some big challenges ahead. Go Eagles!

Another week gone.
The past week was a busy one for the Eagles golf team.
First there was a match against Davis High School at Muni Park. The Eagles earned a victory at their last match at Modesto's nine hole course. Many of the girls were glad that we won't be returning to play any more matches there.
On Wednesday, the Eagles participated in the Sierra Invitational tournament in Manteca. This was the first 18 hole competition of the season. The field included sixteen teams from the Sacramento area down to Merced and everywhere in between. The girls were able to post a score of 503 which earned 4th place. The quality of play was high and the Eagles squad did a great job representing themselves and their school. At the tournament, Shawnee medaled for her tournament low round of 75.
The last round of golf came on Thursday. The match was against Gregori High School at Dryden Park. The team did a great job and shot a team score of 241. There were some memorable moments in the round which included a season low score of 40 for Devin and a 3-under score for Shawnee...the dynamic duo strikes again.

The HOT days of late September...
This last week saw temperatures in the 100s. Very unseasonable weather. The high temperatures brought out some grumbles from the players and maybe even the coach. Despite the weather the team had to focus and prepare for their matches.
On Tuesday, Enochs played Johansen High School. The match was at Creekside which offers little shade so the players had nowhere to hide. The Eagles kept their composure and produced some memorable scores. Demetria shot par on hole #9, a long par 4 that is the hardest rated hole on the course. Shawnee contributed with an incredible round of 3-under 33. With solid rounds from Devin, Corinne and Danielle, the Eagles posted a score of 233.
Thursday brought another round in the heat at Creekside. Playing against the second place Downey High team, the Eagles were able to put together enough low scores to grab their ninth victory of the season. Way to go Eagles.
As the season winds down the team is preparing for the conference tournament and a run into the playoffs. With the lofty goals set at the beginning of the season, now is the time to maintain our focus and practice with purpose.

Halfway Point
The Eagles reached the midway point in the season this week with their match versus Beyer on September 21. Creekside Golf Course greens and tee-boxes had been aerated the week before so conditions were less than prime.
Enochs and Beyer were involved in two close, dramatic matches last year. The memory of those matches and the proximity of the schools have sparked a rivalry between the schools. Despite the tension, the Eagles kept it loose and focused on the task at hand. The Eagles prevailed with the victory which marked a perfect 6-0 record to start the season. Perhaps the most memorable part of the match was the end because the team helped Demetria celebrate her 17th birthday. The girls must have worked up an appetite, because the cookies sure did not last long.
Enochs last match of the week was against Modesto High. It is the time of the year to aerate greens and Muni Park threw sanded, punched greens at the players. The Eagles were able to post a score of 242 which was enough for the victory.

Week 2 and 3
The second week of the season brought the Eagles matches against Downey High and Davis High.
The Downey match was a early showdown of unbeatens, with both teams coming in with 2-0 records. It was a cool, breezy day that made it a challenge for both teams to find the fairway and keep the ball straight. Enochs came out with the low score of the day and shot 253 to defeat Downey's 286.
On Thursday the match was against Davis High School. Enochs got their focus back and returned to form. Many of the girls like Dryden Park and their scores showed it. The team shot a 241with impressive rounds from Shawnee, Devin, Corinne and Danielle.
Their was only one match during the third week of the season. The Eagles took advantage of good conditions and shot a ENOCHS GIRLS TEAM RECORD LOW OF 227! There were season and career lows shot by four players on the par 36 Creekside course. Danielle shot a 52, Corinne shot 49, Emily shot 48 and Shawnee shot a 32 (4 under par)!

Week 1 results
Practice is over and the golf season is underway. Enochs had their first match against Modesto High on August 31. The team came ready to play and shot a 242. Compared to last season this was a fifty stroke improvement. The day was long and hot but everybody did a great job.
On September 2nd, Enochs had their next match against Johansen High School. Despite the heat, the team stayed focused and shot a 230 at Muni. WOW! The 230 team score is the lowest team score to date. There is one sure thing about this team... they are motivated for smoothies!
